Wednesday can’t come soon enough. My poor baby feels absolutely awful on the donut. I think I should probably invest in a full size spare for future tire mishaps. On the bright side, at least the tire blew out near my apartment, and not hundreds of miles away on I-95.

How’s the leather holding up?

It’s been about a year - perhaps you should start using Lexol about once a quarter...

Really well actually. My only issue is that it came a bit loose around the latch on the back seat. Other than that it's great! I still get complements on it. Thanks for the care advise.

I’ve thought about getting a full-size spare for mine, but I haven’t got around to it yet. I even have a spare rim, though I’m not sure if it’s bent (I should probably look into that).

A full-size spare fits fairly easily in tire well, but you do have to lose the foam tray (I wonder how much that does for sound deadening?)

Investing in a full size spare is probably a good idea.Find a used rim on CL or at a junkyard and just keep it somewhere around the house and bring it with you on long trips, doesn’t have to match, just be the same diameter and bolt pattern.

I’ll have to look into all of the details. I really just need to find a similar sized wheel with the same bolt pattern, a good cheap tire and then I should be good to go.

yup. Thats what I think I am gonna do. Luckily my car is 5x114.3 which is one of the most common bolt patterns.

You could get a full size, but you may never need it. I’ve never needed my spare.

At the moment I’m stranded at my college apartment, with most of my clothes and other belongings 3 hours away, and I missed a vacation because I couldn’t get a new tire till Wednesday, the Blow-out occurred on Saturday. For the future, if I had a full size spare, I wouldn't have to worry about being stranded anywhere. I'm just thankful that it occurred right near my apartment. Don't know what I would have done if it had happened somewhere along the route of my 400 mile trip

But what are the odds of that happening? It’s a risk I’m usually willing to take. Maybe Murphy’s Law says that, after no punctures in 10 years of driving, I’ll get one in the worst possible location at the worst possible time. But it’s far more likely I won’t get one at all.

But that’s up to you.

This is the second time in 6 months that I’ve had to put a donut on the car, and the third tire puncture. With my luck, It’ll just keep happening. The roads around me are awful, riddled with potholes, and the construction crews building nearby apartment complexes leave too many nails and screws around the road.
